In grandmother's living room, there was a box that Clara didn't know yet.

It wasn't a noisy box, it didn't shine, and it didn't have wheels. But when Clara opened it, she found ten small puzzles with colorful images and large pieces, made for little hands.

— Ten? — she asked, holding up the fingers of both hands.

Grandmother smiled.

— Ten paths to discover.

Clara chose the first puzzle and spread the pieces on the rug. She looked at a yellow piece. Then at another with a similar curve. She brought them together slowly.

They didn't fit.

Clara wrinkled her nose.

— It doesn't go here.

She turned one of the pieces over. She tried another. This time, she heard a soft click.

Ping.

A tiny light, round like a pea, came out of the puzzle. The light crossed the rug and landed by the door.

The living room door looked different. In place of the hallway, a tiny station appeared, with ten platforms and a clock that had no hands.

— Welcome to the Ten-Fit Station — said a voice.

Clara looked at her grandmother. Grandmother looked very serious, as if this were the most normal thing in the world.

— It seems you have a journey to take.

Clara took the puzzles to the station. On each platform, there was an empty space with a different shape.

On the first, a curve was missing. On the second, a corner was missing. On the third, two colors seemed to be looking for each other.

Clara understood the game.

To open each path, she needed to complete a puzzle.

She started with the second one. She separated the pieces by color. Then she looked at the shapes. She tried one, then another.

Ping.

The second platform lit up.

In the third puzzle, Clara almost fit a piece in the wrong place. She stopped in time.

— This color matches, but the shape doesn't.

She rotated the piece with her fingers and found the right spot.

Ping.

The station clock gained a hand.

With every completed puzzle, a little more of the path appeared. First a bridge. Then a walkway. Then small lights on the floor.

Clara became more and more attentive. She no longer tried in a rush. She looked first. She compared. She turned. Only then did she fit it in.

When she reached the tenth puzzle, three pieces remained.

The first looked right, but wasn't.

The second almost fit, but left a small empty space.

The third fit effortlessly.

Ping!

The ten platforms lit up at the same time.

The clock gained its last hand and started moving.

A tiny train, made of colorful lights, came out of the station. It went around Clara, then around her grandmother, and stopped right in front of the box.

In the window of the first carriage, a sentence appeared:

“Those who observe find paths.”

Clara read it slowly, with her grandmother's help.

Then she put the puzzles away one by one.

The station disappeared. The hallway returned to its place. The magic clock ceased to exist.

But Clara already knew something new.

When a piece didn't fit, it wasn't the end of the game.

It was just a clue to look better.

And the next day, when she opened the box again, she was very attentive.

Perhaps the Ten-Fit Station was still waiting for her.
