Rubber Figure – Grizzly Bear

This XL Grizzly Bear PVC figure features the distinctive characteristics of its subspecies, including the pronounced hump on its shoulders and the prominent claws on its feet, as well as conveying the overall bulk of this enormous bear.

This hand-painted XL Grizzly Bear PVC figure measures 23 centimeters in length, from the tip of its snout to the heel of its left foot. It stands 12 centimeters tall to the top of its hump. Its coloring reflects the variable brown tones found in this subspecies, with a golden-brown face and a darker brown hue on the body. Its nose and lips are black and its claws are light brown.

The grizzly bear is a large type of brown bear found in the far northwestern regions of the North American continent, especially in Canada and Alaska. Although not as large as the polar bear, these bears can grow quite large. Their sharp claws can be up to ten centimeters long.

Explorers Lewis and Clark first described this creature as “grisley,” though what exactly they meant is not 100% clear. They probably referred to the bear's “grizzled” appearance, with lighter colored tips on its fur. Grizzly bears can be differentiated from smaller black bear species in a few ways – the grizzly bear has a prominent hump on its shoulders, a less narrow face, and its rump is lower than its shoulders.

Although they belong to the order Carnivora, grizzly bears eat both animals and plant matter. They eat fruits and insects, but also prey on deer, elk, and other large animals. Fish, especially salmon, constitute a large part of the diet of Grizzlies in Alaska and Canada, and this protein-rich diet causes these bears to grow much larger than other Grizzlies.
