Rubber Figure – Grizzly Bear

This XL Brown Bear PVC Figure features the distinctive characteristics of its subspecies, including the pronounced shoulder hump and prominent claws on its feet, as well as conveying the overall bulk of this enormous bear.

This hand-painted XL Brown Bear PVC Figure measures 23 centimetres in length, from the tip of the snout to the heel of the left foot. It stands 12 centimetres tall to the top of its hump. Its colouring reflects the varying shades of brown found in this subspecies, with a golden brown face and a darker brown tone on the body. Its nose and lips are black, and its claws are light brown.

The brown bear is a large type of brown bear found in the far northwestern regions of the North American continent, especially in Canada and Alaska. Although not as large as the polar bear, these bears can grow quite big. Their sharp claws can be up to ten centimetres long.

Explorers Lewis and Clark first described this creature as “grisley”, although exactly what they meant is not 100% clear. They probably referred to the “grizzled” appearance of the bear, with lighter tips on its fur. Brown bears can be distinguished from smaller black bear species in several ways – the brown bear has a prominent shoulder hump, a less narrow face, and its rump is lower than its shoulders.

Although they belong to the order Carnivora, brown bears eat both animals and plant matter. They eat fruit and insects, but also prey on deer, elk, and other large animals. Fish, especially salmon, make up a large part of the diet of Grizzlies in Alaska and Canada, and this protein-rich diet causes these bears to grow much larger than other Grizzlies.
