Cobi P-51D Mustang

The P-51 'Mustang' was an American aircraft used in World War II and the Korean War. It was a long-range, single-seat fighter and bomber. It was designed in 1940 by North American Aviation. A prototype was launched and first flew in late 1940. It was flown operationally by the Royal Air Force as a tactical reconnaissance and fighter-bomber aircraft. When a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine was added, altitude tolerance was increased enough to compete with Luftwaffe fighters. The P-51D version was one of the best fighters of its time, armed with six M2/AN Browning .50 caliber (12.7 mm) machine guns and with a maximum speed of 700 km/h and a maximum flight level of 12,800 meters. Around 16,000 were manufactured by the end of the war.
